About Tips
The definition of a Tip is: "A company or person who is interested in a specific service or product and is expecting a call from a Portland LeTip member." The key here is that the business or person, to whom you are referring a LeTip member, is expecting a phone call. These tips are not "cold calls", they are valid business leads with a need for the product or service. There are 4 kinds of tips, Inside, Outside, Inter-Chapter and Escrow. An Inside Tip is where a member of Portland LeTip has the intent to use a service or product from another member of Portland LeTip. An Outside Tip is where a member of Portland LeTip tips refers someone from outside of the chapter to a member of Portland LeTip to use a service or product from them. That person is expecting a call from the Portland LeTip member. An Inter-Chapter Tip is where a member of Portland LeTip tips another LeTip member from a different chapter. An Escrow Tip is for guests who are not yet members of Portland LeTip. A member has a legitimate tip for an open category or profession. This tip is given to someone in that category after he/she joins the chapter. So, how much business do you really want? You'll be rewarded according to your ability to help others. The more tips you give, the more tips you'll recieve. Really. |
Tip Report 8/3/10
Hello! One of the many wonderful things about my Personal Computer is that it keeps the house warm in the winter. The electricity bill gets a little high, but I get to wear my nifty safety orange short-sleeve shirt… well not quite short enough sleeve shirt… I have to roll them up…. So Originally I did the tip report but I had this yellow cable in the wrong spot, now if you look closely, you can see what an obvious mistake that was. Color me embarra….. orange. Safety Orange. Disclaimer: This is actually an IBM 407 tabulating machine at US Army’s Redstone Arsenal in 1961. The sorted deck was fed through the tabulating machine and each card was printed on its own line. Selected fields from each card were added to the value of one of several counters. Tip Report 07/28/10
Hello Everyone! Whoa whoa whoa… slow down here! 34 inside tips this week?! You guys keep tipping like that, I am going to have to add some levers to the great TipMaster Counting thingy majig. I went through a whole roll of ticker tape getting these things counted. I even had to start over because I ran out of ink. Imagine my surprise to find that the final count was invisible! Sheesh. By the way, replacing ink and paper on these things is sooooo hard to do. Especially with my nimble meat hooks called hands. It is like watching orangutans use a screwdriver…. Stand back, somebody might lose an eye… or limb. Anywho, here is the tip report, on Sunday. Bam! Just like that. Gotta run though, looks like I am getting a twitter update. Time to reload. Here's the tip totals for Wednesday the 24th...27 tips were passed, 8 Outside & 19 Inside...Kind of medium tipping for the week, but overall strong for the month since we're at 134 for the month, and 512 for the year... Bob Skinner of Expect Payment Solutions made it to the Significant Six Club for passing 6 tips in 1 month...Way to go Bob!...
